Our Story
Gazawood was founded in the aftermath of Hamas's October 7 massacre of Israeli civilians near Gaza.
As Israel began its response, an unusually dramatic wave of footage began to appear. Some of these scenes seemed almost prearranged — featuring multiple crews, professional equipment, local performers, and even very young children reciting political speeches while appearing wounded.
These and many other observations suggested that, alongside genuine suffering, there may also exist depictions that are not entirely authentic.
The goal of this project is to document that phenomenon — one largely ignored, and perhaps even shielded, by mainstream media — and to allow people to approach such material with greater fairness and clarity.
Gazawood is not a fact-checking organization, nor does it claim to determine absolute truth.
Palestinian suffering exists — profoundly.
And Pallywood, the anti-Israeli industry of staged or manipulated media, also exists — profoundly.
One truth does not cancel out the other.
Gazawood was created from the recognition that media manipulation and staged content have become sophisticated tools in modern conflict reporting. Our team identified an urgent need for a verifiable and transparent central archive that goes beyond viral clips to provide context, sources, and analysis.
