“For more than two decades, people here went to sleep without being able to tell their children that it was going to be a good night”: With this sentence, Col. (Res.) Golan Vach, former commander of the IDF’s unit for locating missing persons, described the harsh reality that existed long before October 7, as he stood at the Nova massacre site before 1,000 American Christian leaders. Vach emphasized that Israel’s fight is not only about responding to the past, but about securing a future where children can finally sleep in peace. He captured this commitment in one clear promise: if an alarm were to sound here now, “our job is to make sure that signal is never relevant again”. Our responsibility is to ensure it never happens again.
